Assassin Snail Scientific Name: Anentome helena

The Assassin Snail (Anentome helena) is a highly sought-after freshwater snail renowned for its natural ability to control pest snail populations. Unlike many common aquarium snails, Assassin Snails are carnivorous and actively prey on nuisance snails, making them an excellent biological solution for maintaining a balanced aquarium.

Beyond their practical benefits, these snails are attractive in their own right, featuring striking alternating yellow and dark brown bands that add visual interest to planted aquariums and aquascapes. They are peaceful towards fish and shrimp, making them an excellent addition to most community aquariums.

Assassin Snails thrive in stable, well-maintained freshwater aquariums with a varied diet. Once pest snails become scarce, they readily accept sinking carnivore pellets, frozen foods, and other protein-rich foods.

Please Note: Assassin Snails are sold individually. As a live animal, natural variations in colour, pattern, and size should be expected. While generally considered shrimp-safe, very young or weak shrimp may occasionally be at risk. They may also reproduce under suitable conditions, although their breeding rate is considerably slower than that of common pest snails.
