Flame Moss – Taxiphyllum sp.
Flame Moss is a beautiful and distinctive aquarium moss recognised for its narrow, upright growth. As it develops, the moss tends to twist and curl upwards, creating a natural flame-like appearance that adds height, texture and movement to an aquascape.
It is an excellent choice for creating natural-looking hardscape features and works especially well on driftwood, rocks and other aquarium surfaces. Flame Moss is also a popular choice for shrimp aquariums, where it provides additional grazing surfaces and shelter for small shrimp and shrimplets.

NatHab Recommendation
For the best results, attach small portions to driftwood or rock using aquarium-safe thread, glue or suitable moss mesh. Avoid burying the moss in substrate.
Regular trimming helps maintain a neat appearance and encourages new growth. Good water movement and stable aquarium conditions will help keep the moss healthy and free from excessive debris.
Shrimp Keeper Tip: Flame Moss makes an excellent addition to shrimp aquariums. Its fine structure creates extra surface area for biofilm and microorganisms while providing cover for juvenile shrimp.
