Carbo Bio Start 60
The Carbo Bio Start 60 bio CO2 fertilizer system supplies all freshwater aquaria up to 60 liters (15.85 US gal.) with vital CO2. It is ready for operation in just a few steps. CO2 production already starts after 24 to 48 hours. A pressure-resistant CO2 hose and a CO2 Mini-Topper specially designed for low operating pressure – or optionally, a CO2 Injector for the connection to a Dennerle Corner Filter 40 or 60 – ensure fast, effective dissolution of the valuable CO2 in the aquarium water.
Carbon: the basis of life for all plants
Plants consist of almost 50 % carbon. CO2 is therefore their most important nutrient. It serves as the basic building block for photosynthesis. From CO2, water and light, they produce their most important building material and energy source: sugar. As a „waste material“, oxygen is produced, which all animals need to breathe.
Without the addition of CO2, the level in aquaria is always too low. Plants therefore grow only slowly or not at all. This in turn means little oxygen production for fish and shrimp, but above all the risk of algae problems increases significantly. Well growing aquatic plants are the best prevention against algae!
Only a regular addition of CO2 creates the natural basis for healthy, strong plant growth, lush green leaves and bright colors. The plants produce more oxygen for the fish, ensure better water quality and actively prevent algae.
CO2 Production
The valuable carbon is produced by a 100 % natural bio-reaction. Selected microorganisms, in combination with the CO2 Constant gel developed by Dennerle, supply an almost constant amount of CO2 (per filling) for at least 40 days.
In conventional Bio CO2 systems, on the other hand, which work with white household sugar, CO2 production tends to be very irregular. It usually starts very quickly, but drops sharply again after just a few days, i.e. initially too much CO2 is produced, and later on too little. These systems are therefore less suitable for aquaristic practice.
