The Ramshorn Snail (Planorbella duryi) is a popular freshwater snail recognised by its distinctive flat, spiral shell that resembles the horns of a ram.

Available in a variety of colours, including red, pink, blue, brown, and leopard patterns, these snails add beauty and diversity to planted aquariums while contributing to the aquarium’s natural clean-up crew.

Ramshorn Snails spend their day grazing on soft algae, biofilm, leftover fish food, and decaying plant matter, helping to maintain a healthy aquarium ecosystem. They are peaceful and coexist well with shrimp, small community fish, and other non-aggressive aquarium inhabitants.

When food is abundant, Ramshorn Snails may reproduce readily, making them an excellent indicator of overfeeding.

Breeding:

Their population naturally reflects the amount of available food, making controlled feeding the best way to prevent overpopulation.
